Keep PA Beautiful 2025 Annual Report: 35 Years, 3 Million Volunteers, Cleaned Up 165 Million Tons Of Trash, 1.2 Million Tires

On March 9, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful released its 2025 annual report not only celebrating the accomplishments in the past year, but also the 35th anniversary of the group's founding.

Here's the introduction from the report by Shannon Reiter, Executive Director, and Phoebe Wetzel, Board Chair--

Dear Friends,

This year, we proudly celebrated 35 years of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, and the incredible progress we’ve made together thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, partners, and supporters across the Commonwealth. 

Since our founding, your commitment has powered every cleanup, every restoration effort, and every step toward a cleaner, more vibrant Pennsylvania. 

This milestone is not only a reflection of our shared accomplishments; it’s a reminder of what’s possible when communities come together.

For 35 years, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, our partners and volunteers have led the charge in community cleanups through Pick Up Pennsylvania, the Commonwealth’s largest community improvement initiative, along with sustainability programs and environmental education that inspire residents to care for the places they live. 

Central to this mission is preparing the next generation to carry it forward. By equipping young people with knowledge, leadership skills, and hands‑on opportunities, such as our Open Your Eyes to Litter series, Litter Free School Zone and Young Ambassador’s programs, we’re shaping habits and attitudes that extend into families, schools, and neighborhoods. 

Together, these efforts help build a lasting culture of stewardship and pride in Pennsylvania’s natural beauty.

With your continued support, we’ve made a lasting impact: vibrant communities, cleaner waterways, and pristine green spaces. 

Since our inception, close to 3 million volunteers have joined our mission, properly disposing of more than 165 million tons of trash and over 1.2 million tires!
