DEP Sets April 16 Hearing On Wastewater Permit For PA American Water Manwalamink Treatment Plant In Smithfield Twp., Monroe County

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the March 14 PA Bulletin announcing an April 16 hearing on the NPDES Wastewater Permit for the PA American Water Manwalamink Treatment Plant in Smithfield Township, Monroe County. (

The plant would discharge into Brodhead Creek.

The hearing will be held at the Smithfield Township Municipal Center, 1155 Red Fox Road in East Stroudsburg starting at 6:00 p.m.

Persons wishing to present testimony at the hearing should contact DEP’s Community Relations Coordinator, Patti Monahan at pamonahan@pa.gov or 570-826-2035 no later than 4:00 PM on April 15, 2026. 

Persons unable to attend the hearing may submit a written statement and exhibits within 10 days after the hearing.
