DEP: Contaminated Water Release Discovered At Deer Run Oil & Gas LLC Conventional Oil & Gas Well Site In Crawford County

On September 30, 2026, the Department of Environmental Protection inspected the Deer Run Oil & Gas LLC Newcomb 17 conventional oil and gas well in Beaver Township, Crawford County and discovered a contaminated water release.

The release came from a contaminated water storage tank that spilled fluid into secondary containment.

Pooled water in the containment area had a telltale sheen and field testing confirmed the water was contaminated with very high conductivity readings.

“The operator is required to remedy the cause of the leak, remove the contaminated fluid and soil, and fill the affected area with fresh material.  Disposal receipts for the proper disposal of contaminated material are requested.”

Multiple violations were issued.
