The challenge encourages individuals and teams of up to three participants in two age groups to explore themes such as renewable energy, waste reduction, sustainable living, and climate action.
Participants will film and edit a series of three 60-second clips that tell a compelling sustainability story.
There are two tracks to participate, the youth track for ages 14-18 and young adult track ages 19-24.
Participants must also reside or attend school in Wayne, Pike, Monroe, or Lackawanna counties.
All submissions must be uploaded through SEEDS’ online portal by January 10, 2027.
Cash Prizes
There will be cash prizes awarded in each age group of up to $1,000.
Winners will be celebrated at a SEEDS of NEPA recognition event, and winning videos will be featured on the SEEDS of NEPA website and social media channels.
All participants gain real-world media production experience and a platform for their voice in their community.
“At SEEDS, we believe creativity is a catalyst for change,” said Development Director Michele Long. “The Sustainable Storytelling Video Challenge invites people to express their passion for sustainability in ways that connect hearts and minds. When we share our stories, we inspire others to take meaningful action toward a healthier planet.”
To help participants develop their ideas, SEEDS provides a list of helpful resources including the Carbon Footprint Calculator, NASA’s Images of Change, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
These website resources and more information on the competition can be found at the Sustainable Storytelling Video Challenge webpage.
By submitting a video, participants grant SEEDS permission to feature their work on its website and social media channels, amplifying local voices in the sustainability movement.
We are thrilled to invite forward-thinking organizations and community partners to join us as sponsors of this inspiring initiative — and to share the impact that your investment will have on our youth and our region.
Storytelling is a powerful tool for change. Through this challenge, SEEDS aims to empower individuals to communicate environmental issues in engaging, relatable ways—encouraging action and awareness across generations.
