DEP said a “notable amount of production fluid” was observed at the base of a storage tank on the site.
Photos show the contaminated water had soaked the ground around the tank and appeared to have been releasing fluid for some time.
The tank itself and other equipment on the site was described as being in “poor condition.”
DEP requested the well owner to “please clean up the spilled fluids and notify the Department when completed” and identify the cause of the release and corrective actions planned.
A written response was requested by October 17.
