This particular location is a major construction site for two different shale gas-related pipelines by two different companies showing the scale of these operations.
DEP noted other areas around the crossing and in wetland areas were hand-seeded and straw applied as temporary stabilization.
DEP inspected other areas of the right-of-way to make sure erosion control measures were installed and working properly.
Multiple violations were issued related to the illegal discharge of a substance polluting the stream and a response was requested by October 20.

DEP did a follow-up inspection of the site on October 6, 2026 and found additional erosion control blanketing was installed at the stream crossing.
A timbermat airbridge was also installed across the stream as part of the construction of an aboveground water pipeline by a contractor for EQT in the same right-of-way.
No other erosion and sedimentation issues were found.
DEP said violations would be continued until permanent stabilization measures are installed.
