DEP - Day 357: S.R. Star O&G LLC Still Fails To Comply With An Order To Plug At Least Some Of The 11 Abandoned Conventional Oil & Gas Wells It Owns In Butler County

On October 1, 2026, the Department of Environmental Protection conducted follow-up inspections of 11  S.R. Star O&G LLC abandoned conventional oil and gas wells in Slippery Rock Township, Butler County and found the owner has still failed to comply with an October 9, 2025 DEP order.

DEP found the owner failed to plug at least one of the 11 abandoned wells by December 31, 2025 and failed to submit annual production, waste and well integrity reports by December 8, 2025.

The original violations for failure to submit annual reports date from March 13, 2024 and failure to plug the abandoned wells were issued on April 23, 2025.

DEP continued the February 24, 2026 violations for failure to comply with a DEP order.

DEP requested a response to the violations by October 13.
