DEP Invites Comments On Renewal Of NPDES Wastewater Underground Coal Mining Permit For Consol PA Coal Company Covering 47,811 Acres In Greene & Washington Counties

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the November 1 PA Bulletin inviting comments on the renewal of an NPDES Wastewater Permit for Consol Pennsylvania Coal Company LLC underground coal mining operations in Aleppo, Center, Gray and Richhill Townships, Greene County and West Finley Township, Washington County. The permit covers 2,073.41 surface acres and 47,811.57 underground areas.

The permit sets effluent limits for discharges at 39 outfall points.

The streams receiving discharges include Enlow Fork, Dunkard Fork, South Fork Dunkard Fork, Barney Run, Kent Run, Jacobs Run, North Fork Dunkard Fork and Claylick Run (Exceptional Value).

The deadline for comments is December 1 - 30 days from this notice.

No hearing or informal conference has been scheduled for this permit renewal, but one may be requested.

This permit is being reviewed by the DEP California District Mining Office, 25 Technology Drive, Coal Center, PA 15423 or send email to: RA-EPCALIFORNIAMO@pa.gov
