DEP Invites Comments On Individual Stormwater Permit For PECO Energy Electric Substation, 230 kV Transmission Line Project Crossing Schuylkill River In Montgomery County

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the September 26 PA Bulletin inviting comments on an Individual Stormwater Permit for a PECO Energy Company installation of an electric substation and two 230 kV electric transmission lines crossing the Schuylkill River in Norristown and Bridgeport Boroughs, West Norriton and Upper Merion Townships, Montgomery County. (PA Bulletin, page 6394) 

PECO said this project will disturb 32.55 acres and is not related to data center development.

The new substation and transmission line relocation are necessary to replace the existing Barbadoes Island Substation, which is in an area prone to flooding as it is located in a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) mapped regulated floodway, and partially at end of life.

No hearing has been scheduled, but one may be requested.

Comments are due October 26-- 30 days from this notice.
