DCNR Resource: Skywalk Opens For Fall Foliage; Closing Trail Gaps; Honoring Lifesavers; New Marsh Creek Visitor Center; Dam Work; Trail Help Needed

The September issue of DCNR’s Resource news highlights September Trails Month, lifesavers in Swatara State Park and the reopening of the Skywalk at Kinzua Bridge State Park in McKean County for the fall foliage viewing season.

Skywalk Reopens

The Skywalk at Kinzua Bridge State Park in McKean County offers visitors a unique opportunity to walk out and peer down for stunning views of the Kinzua Valley on a viaduct that was reimagined as a skywalk after being partially toppled by a tornado. 

Lifesavers

DCNR Ranger Ellen Secor and Ranger Emily McCoy, along with civilian Sean Nam, each received Secretarial Citations acknowledging their quick action during a cardiac emergency that helped save a fellow park visitor’s life at Swatara State Park in Lebanon and Schuylkill counties.

New Visitors Center

The new visitor center at Marsh Creek State Park in Chester County showcases the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ commitment to sustainable design and public access on the Commonwealth’s public lands.

Old Stone House

The Old Stone House, a reconstructed 1820s-era tavern turned museum and Butler County landmark in Brady Township, is now under the management of Jennings Environmental Education Center and will open to the public after necessary renovations.

Dam Work

-- Dam Removal To Begin At Tyler State Park, Bucks County

Trail Help

DCNR is now accepting letters of interest and resumes for four positions on the DCNR PA Trails Advisory Committee.  Learn more here.
