DEP Issues Chapter 105 Permits For Mid-Atlantic Interstate Transmission 150 Mile Piney-Seward And Erie South Piney Transmission Line Project Crossing 8 Counties

The Department of Environmental Protection published notices in the September 26 PA Bulletin announcing it has issued Chapter 105 permits for the Mid-Atlantic Interstate Transmission, LLC. 150 mile Piney-Seward And Erie South Piney Transmission Line Project.  (PA Bulletin, page 6434 to 6437)

The project is designed to replace and update existing transmission lines to improve reliability and better handle large loads and expanded demand for electricity.

Chapter 105 permits were issued for segments of the project in Armstrong, Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Indiana, Jefferson, Venango and Westmoreland counties.

The permits cover 2,600.38 acres running through these municipalities--

-- Armstrong County - Redbank Township

-- Clairon County - Ashland, Elk, Beaver, Paint, Piney, Monroe, Limestone, Porter and Redbank Townships

-- Crawford County - Bloomfield, Athens, Steuben, Troy and Oil Creek Townships, City of Titusville

-- Erie County - Summit, Greene, Waterford, Le Boeuf and Union Townships

-- Indiana County - West Mahoning, North Mahoning, East Mahoning, Rayne, Green, Pine, Buffington and East Wheatfield Townships

-- Jefferson County - Timblin Borough, Porter and Ringgold Townships

-- Venango County - Cherrytree, Cornplanter, Cranberry and Pinegrove Townships

-- Westmoreland County - Saint Clair Township.

Requests for the permits and questions should be directed to the DEP Regional Permit Coordination Office 717-772-5987 or send email to: RA-EPREGIONALPERMIT@pa.gov. 

Anyone aggrieved by these actions has 30 days from this notice to file an appeal with the Environmental Hearing Board.
