DEP Invites Comments On Chapter 105 Permit For Construction Of A Shale Gas Water Withdrawal Structure In The Susquehanna River By Expand Operating LLC In Standing Stone Twp., Bradford County

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the August 15 PA Bulletin inviting comments on a Chapter 105 permit by Expand Operating LLC for the construction of a shale gas water withdrawal structure in the Susquehanna River in  Standing Stone Township, Bradford County.  (PA Bulletin, page 5463)

The project involves the construction of a 12-inch, 114 foot long intake pipeline placed along the river bottom and extending into the Susquehanna River.

A pump pad will be constructed along with two 16-inch “temporary” aboveground water pipeline extending an unknown length from the withdrawal point to supply water for shale gas well development in Standing Stone Township, according to the notice.

No hearing has been scheduled, but one may be requested.

Comments are due September 14-- 30 days from this notice.
