Concerned Citizens Of Montour County Announce Aug. 20 DEP Meeting To Discuss How The Environmental Justice Permit Policy May Apply To Proposed Talen Energy Natural Gas Power Plant In Derry Twp., Montour County

The Concerned Citizens of Montour County announced an August 20 in-person meeting with the Department of Environmental Protection to provide information on how the agency’s Environmental Justice Permit Policy may apply to the proposed Talen Energy Natural Gas Power Plant in Derry Township, Montour County to feed A.I. data centers.

The meeting will be held at DeLong Memorial Hall, 1129 Third Street in Washingtonville starting at 6:00 p.m.

DEP Northcentral Regional Office Environmental Justice Coordinator Jordi Comas will explain the agency’s ‘opt-in’ process under the Environmental Justice Policy to have the permits for the project to be subject to the EJ Policy Permit Review process.

At the meeting, DEP will review--

-- What the EJ policy has to do with the project, especially how opt in works

-- How PennEnviroScreen is one key source of information for the decision

-- How the public engages in general with the permitting process.
