DEP Accepting Comments On Water Quality Permit For 3.6 Mile EQT ARO LLC 16-Inch Shale Gas Water Pipeline In Lycoming County

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the April 4 PA Bulletin inviting comments on a Chapter 105 permit for a 3.6 mile, 16-inch EQT ARO LLC aboveground shale gas water pipeline to support shale gas development in Cascade Township, Lycoming County.  (
PA Bulletin, page 1878)

[Note: The notice also mentions McNett Township as a location for the project. It’s confusing.]

The water pipeline will begin at the future RBP AST Pad, then follow a proposed pipeline right-of-way (permitted by others) and existing pipeline right-of-way to the Hemlock Pad A.

A second water pipeline will run from the RBP AST Pad and follow the existing access road to the RBP Pad A.

The permit would allow EQT to construct, operate and maintain two (2) temporary

stream crossings and seven (7) temporary wetland crossings in Cascade Township for 19,094 feet of pipeline.

The deadline for comments is May 4-- 30 days from this notice.

No hearing has been scheduled, but one may be requested.

To make an appointment to review the application, or to send comments, contact the DEP Northcentral Regional Office, Eastern District Oil and Gas Management Program Office, 208 West Third Street in Williamsport at (570) 321-6550 or send email to: RA-EPEASTERNOGPRG@pa.gov
