EPCAMR staff, members, and the public are invited to attend a banquet highlighting the organization’s accomplishments over the years.
Over the past three decades, EPCAMR has successfully fulfilled its mission and impacted the region’s communities by, among other activities, removing large coal refuse piles from the landscape, launching and/or supporting more than 45 watershed groups, monitoring dozens of passive treatment systems to reduce water pollution, scanning 20,000 paper coal mine maps, conducting trash cleanups, and offering environmental (STEM) education programs at schools and other venues.
Formed in 1996 by concerned conservation districts, EPCAMR represents a coalition of watershed organizations and reclamation partners.
Members range from individuals, to the active anthracite mining industry and co-generation power plants, to nonprofit organizations, 16 county conservation districts and other organizations in the anthracite and bituminous coal region of eastern Pennsylvania that are involved with abandoned mine reclamation issues.
Counties covered by EPCAMR in NorthEastern and NorthCentral PA include: Tioga, Bradford, Susquehanna, Lycoming, Sullivan, Wyoming, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Northumberland, Carbon, Schuylkill, Columbia, Lebanon, Dauphin, Montour, and Wayne.
The population we serve equates to approximately 1 million people (938,530).
