House Passes Bills Authorizing Clean Manufacturing, Reduce Fees For Small Nuclear Reactors, Advances Solar Warehouse Bill

Last week the House passed legislation authorizing a clean manufacturing tax credit [
House Bill 1556 (Fiedler-D-Philadephia)] and DEP radiation protection fees to encourage development of small nuclear power reactors [House Bill 2017 (Giral-D-Philadelphia)]

The House also advanced House Bill 1260 (Rusnock-D-Berks) to encourage the development of solar energy facilities on warehouses by removing the bill from the Table and referring it to the House Appropriations Committee.

“We face a looming energy crisis that could have life-changing impacts on the people of Pennsylvania,” said Rep. Elizabeth Fiedler (D-Philadelphia), Majority Chair of the House Energy Committee. “We must act with urgency and rise to the moment, building on Pennsylvania’s historic role as an energy leader and innovator.”

The House Energy Committee also reported out House Bill 1834 (Matzie-D-Beaver) authorizing the Public Utility Commission to adopt regulations covering A.I. data centers and other large loads to protect ratepayers and the electric grid that is now on the House Calendar for action.

In the coming weeks, the House Energy Committee plans to hold hearings on advanced geothermal technologies and virtual power plants.
