DEP Issues Water Quality Permits For Major Longwall Coal Mining Damage Prevention Project Covering 4 Texas Eastern Natural Gas Pipelines In Greene County

The Department of Environmental Protection published notices in the February 21 PA Bulletin announcing the issuance of water quality permits for a project to protect four Texas Eastern Transmission, LP natural gas pipelines from damage caused by underground longwall coal mining in Center and Richhill Townships, Greene County.

The permits include a Chapter 102 Erosion and Sedimentation, Chapter 105 Encroachments and a Section 401 Water Quality Certification.

The project involves excavating, elevating and then replacing 5.33 miles of four natural gas pipelines-- two 30-inch and two 36-inch pipelines.
