Capital RC&D Receives National Fish & Wildlife Foundation Chesapeake Bay Small Watershed Grant To Improve Farm Grazing Practices

On October 27, the
Capital Resource Conservation and Development Area Council announced it received a $706,400 grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as part of the Chesapeake Bay Small Watershed Grants program.

This project will strengthen grazing practices in Pennsylvania’s Chesapeake Bay Watershed by connecting landowners with technical, financial, and relationship-based support.

This two-year project will provide targeted grazing advisement and cost share for implementing grazing related best management practices within the Capital RC&D region in southcentral Pennsylvania.

It also reinforces the existing partnership with the Pennsylvania Grazing Lands Coalition and the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay by supporting the PA GLC mentor-mentee program throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed in Pennsylvania and working with the ACB to install riparian buffers.

“The grant award is exciting because it will advance outreach strategies and partner development established in our current programs and ensure that graziers have technical and educational support, financial assistance, and opportunities to connect with colleagues and partner organizations," said Ann Basehore, Executive Director at Capital RC&D.
