FracTracker Alliance, Halt The Harm Network Now Accepting Nominations For 2026 Community Sentinel Award

The
FracTracker Alliance and the Halt the Harm Network are now accepting nominations for the 2026 Community Sentinel Award.  The deadline for submissions is July 31.

The Community Sentinel Award for Environmental Stewardship is an annual award that honors environmental activism and advocacy.

The Award and a $1,000 stipend is given to five individuals across the U.S. who demonstrate extraordinary courage and commitment in promoting environmental justice and leading the charge for a healthier, more just future.

Established in 2015, the Sentinel Award recognizes the pivotal role of individuals championing change on the front lines of the environmental movement, particularly those working to mitigate the adverse effects of fossil fuels on their communities and environment throughout the fossil fuel life cycle—from extraction to production, processing, combustion, and disposal.

These Sentinels engage in impactful practices such as organizing grassroots campaigns, advocating for stricter laws and regulations, conducting independent research, raising awareness through various art forms, and educating the public on the impacts of fossil fuels.

Recipients of the Community Sentinel Award for Environmental Stewardship are honored not only for their individual accomplishments but also as representatives of the broader movement for environmental justice, highlighting the diverse and powerful voices leading the charge for a more just world.
