DEP Invites Comments On Stormwater Permit For PPL Utilities Juniata-Shermansdale, Juniata-Bernheisel High Voltage Transmission Line Projects In Perry, Cumberland Counties To Serve Data Centers In Middlesex Twp.

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the May 9 PA Bulletin inviting comments on an Individual Stormwater Permit for the PPL Utilities Juniata-Shermansdale and Juniata-Bernheisel High Voltage Transmission Lines Projects in Middlesex Township, Cumberland County and Carroll, Centre, and Rye Townships, Perry County.  (

PPL intends to relocate approximately 2.45 miles of Juniata-Shermansdale (JUNI-SDLE) transmission line during Phase 1 and 13.34 miles of the Juniata-Bernheisel transmission line to feed the data center projects in Middlesex Township, Cumberland County.

The total area covered by the permit is 417.5 acres and discharges are expected to impact Conodoquinet Creek, Little Juniata Creek and Shermans Creek (High Quality).

No hearing has been scheduled on the permit, but one may be requested.

DEP is accepting comments until June 8-- 30 days from this notice.
