DEP Invites Comments On Stormwater Permit For PPL Utilities Chanceford 500kV Transmission Line Rebuild In York County Related To Restart Of Three Mile Island Nuclear Data Center Power Plant

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the May 16 PA Bulletin inviting comments on an amendment to an Individual Stormwater Permit for the PPL Utilities Chanceford 500kV transmission line rebuild in York County related to the restart of the Three Mile Island Nuclear Data Center Power Plant [Crane Clean Energy Center’].  (

The transmission line project is located in East Hopewell and Hopewell Townships, York County and involves the reconstruction of approximately 12.7 miles of existing overhead electric line.

The permit amendment is for an additional 20 acres of tree clearing along the electric right-of-way. The project includes 190 acres of total earth disturbance area.

No hearing has been scheduled, but one may be requested.

Comments are due June 15-- 30 days from this notice.
