DEP Invites Comments On Section 401 Water Quality Certification For Eastern Gas Transmission 20-Inch Natural Gas Pipeline In Salem Twp., Westmoreland County

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the May 9 PA Bulletin inviting comments on an application for a Section 401 Water Quality Certification for an Eastern Gas Transmission and Storage, Inc. 20-inch natural gas pipeline proposed in Salem Township, Westmoreland County. (

The approximately 2,000 foot pipeline would connect the Rock Springs Compressor Station and the TL-574 natural gas transmission line to the existing TL-591 natural gas transmission line.

Project construction would impact limited areas along Beaver Run (High Quality) and in Exceptional Value wetlands. There is no loss of wetlands.

No hearing has been scheduled, but one may be requested.

DEP will accept comments on the application until June 8-- 30 days after this notice.
