Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Seeks Comments On Environmental Impacts Of Proposed Constitution Natural Gas Pipeline Project Impacting Susquehanna County, PA; New York And Delaware

On April 3, the
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued notice of a Scoping Period Request for Comments on environmental issues related to the proposed Constitution Natural Gas Pipeline and Wright Interconnect Projects.

Williams Pipeline Company and Iroquois Gas Transmission System have each asked FERC to reissue certificates for the related projects, which would let natural gas flow from Pennsylvania to upstate New York before connecting with existing infrastructure.

Constitution and Iroquois propose to construct and operate 124.4 miles of new 30-inch-diameter natural gas pipeline and associated equipment and facilities in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania and New York.

“Any environmental document issued by the Commission will discuss impacts not previously considered in the 2014 final EIS that could occur as a result of the construction and operation of the proposed Projects.”

Following this scoping period, Commission staff will determine whether to prepare an environmental document such as an Environmental Assessment (EA) or an EIS.

The deadline for comments is May 4.
