PA Resources Council To Hold Aug. 1, Aug. 23 Hard-To-Recycle Collection Events In Allegheny County

In August,
Pennsylvania Resources Council will host two hard-to-recycle collection events in Allegheny County to enable area residents to responsibly recycle a wide variety of items not accepted in curbside collection such as e-waste, tires and small Freon appliances.

These events held in partnership with the Allegheny County Health Department will take place:

-- Saturday, August 2, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Elizabeth Forward Middle School, 401 Rock Run Road Elizabeth, PA 15037

-- Saturday, August 23, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Boyce Park, 754 Center Road Pittsburgh, PA 15239

Participants must register in advance on online or by calling 412-488-7490.

For a $5 PARTICIPANT FEE, individuals can drop off unlimited cell/home phones, computer towers and peripheral equipment (keyboards, laptops, mice, etc.), expanded polystyrene packaging material, microwave ovens and video game consoles/DVD players.

For an ADDITIONAL FEE, individuals can recycle televisions and computer monitors, printers, fluorescent tubes, small Freon appliances and tires (with and without rims).

Final Fall Events

The final two 2025 hard-to-recycle collections in Allegheny County will take place September 27 at Settlers Cabin Park and October 11 in Quaker Valley. 

The 2025 PRC hard-to-recycle collection campaign is sponsored by Allegheny County Health Department, Allegheny County Parks Department, Colcom Foundation, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, 11 Cares, Pennsylvania American Water, Quaker Valley Council of Governments, Styropek,90.5 WESA and 91.3 WYEP.
