PA Envirothon: Penncrest High School Envirothon Team From Delaware County Competes In NCF International Envirothon In Calgary, Alberta Thru July 26

Join PA Envirothon in cheering on Lucy, Kayra, Eva, Teddy & Ethan-- Team Pennsylvania from Penncrest High School in Delaware County as they represent Pennsylvania at the international 2025 NCF-Envirothon in Mount Royal University, Calgary, Alberta through July 26.

They will be competing alongside 51 top high school teams from North America and China.

Over the next few days, this incredible team will:

-- Train at immersive field stations

-- Test their knowledge in wildlife, forestry, aquatic ecology, soils& land use, and current environmental issues

-- Explore breathtaking landscapes and natural parks

-- Deliver powerful oral presentations showcasing their environmental expertise

Envirothon History

The first-ever Envirothon competition was created in Pennsylvania in 1979 by the Fulton, Luzerne and Schuylkill conservation districts and by 1984 the program expanded to a statewide competition and then nationally and internationally.

Now more than 15,000 high school students across the state compete in 67 county Envirothons.

Pennsylvania won the International Envirothon competition in 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1994, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2009 and 2017 and frequently places in the top 10 finishers.

In 2024, the North East High School from Erie County placed eighth in the International Envirothon competition at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York.  Read more here.

In 2023, the Penncrest High School Team from Delaware County took second place in the International Envirothon competition in New Brunswick, Canada  [Read more here] and in 2022 a team from the same high school placed 10th in the international competition [Read more here].
