-- EQT ARO LLC Water Pipeline: DEP published notice in the July 5 PA Bulletin announcing a Chapter 105 permit has been issued for the EQT ARO LLC 6.1 mile, 20-inch HDPE aboveground water pipeline located in Cummings and McHenry Townships, Lycoming County. The pipeline project will impact Zinck Fork Creek (High Quality), Upper Pine Bottom Run (High Quality), Veley Fork Creek (High Quality), Browns Run (High Quality) and multiple wetlands. -- Harmon Creek Natural Gas Processing Plant: On May 2, DEP issued an Air Quality Plan Approval Permit covering changes to the MarkWest Liberty Midstream & Resources, LLC Harmon Creek Natural Gas Processing Plant in Smith Township, Washington County.
After receiving extensive public comments from more than a dozen local residents, the Environmental Integrity Project, PennFuture, FracTracker Alliance, Earthworks, Moms Clean Air Force, and others, DEP made significant changes to the permit in response to those comments to reduce emissions and improve accountability at the plant. -- Catalyst Energy Injection Well: On June 30, the Environmental Hearing Board issued an order denying a request for summary judgment by Catalyst Energy, Inc. and DEP in a legal challenge to an oil and gas wastewater injection well near the town of Cyclone in Keating Township, McKean County. -- CNX/WCAA Drakulic Shale Gas Wells: On July 3, CNX Resources (WCAA Upstream, LLC/Apex Energy LLC) filed an appeal of a June 3 Environmental Hearing Board decision in Commonwealth Court challenging the Board's authority to impose new conditions on two shale gas well permits at the Drakulic well pad in Penn Township, Westmoreland County. On July 2, Protect PT-- the party that brought the original appeal of the Drakulic permits to the EHB-- filed an appeal on the same EHB decision with Commonwealth Court because it allowed the permits for the two wells to remain in force. Read more here.
