The challenge runs from April 1 through October 31, 2026.
New this year, KTA has partnered with GoFundMe as its official fundraising platform, giving participants an easy way to collect sponsorships and share their journey with friends, family, and fellow trail supporters.
The GoFundMe campaign also features integrated mile tracking, allowing hikers to log their progress directly alongside their fundraising efforts.
The premise is simple: hikers secure at least $1 in sponsorship for every mile completed in Pennsylvania.
Those who finish 100 miles and meet the fundraising goal by October 31st will be honored at KTA's Pennsylvania Hiking and Volunteer Award Celebration on November 21, 2026.
"Trail care teams leave tracks: trail blazes on trees, bridges over streams and wetlands, or downed trees that have been removed from the trail. These are the signs that trail care crews are on the ground keeping Pennsylvania's trails clear, accessible, and safe,” said Holly Smith, Executive Director, Keystone Trails Association. “The 100-mile Challenge is a fun way to support KTA's mission, have fun with friends, and get those miles in!"
All funds raised directly support KTA's mission: to provide, protect, preserve, and promote recreational hiking trails and hiking opportunities across Pennsylvania.
Registration and full challenge details, including eligible trails and the GoFundMe fundraising portal, are available at the 100-Mile Challenge webpage.
