DEP Hosts April 9 Webinar On Community Energy Development Program; Local Governments Can Apply For Assistance In Developing Energy Transition Plans Thru April 15

The Department of Environmental Protection will host an
April 9 webinar on the Community Energy Development Program from Noon to 1:00 p.m.

The Community Energy Development Program can assist local governments within the Commonwealth with development and adoption of actionable energy transition plans. 

The application period for 2026 is now open and will remain open until April 15th.

The goal of the program is to provide the technical assistance necessary for Pennsylvania communities to establish the contractual/financial/physical infrastructure needed for things like-- 

-- Demand-response market representation;

-- Renewable energy adoption and development;

-- Establish local solar/renewable energy co-op;

-- Assist in development of opt-in municipal/community choice aggregation for residents within participating communities;

-- Study and development of energy efficiency and weatherization programs for residential and commercial properties, especially low income (this may include plan or program development, identification of funding opportunities, application assistance; and

-- Reducing energy costs, avoiding energy cost spikes.

Representatives from DEP, ProtoGen, Inc., and The Sheward Partnership will provide  information about the program and cohort selection process in a webinar
