This final PRC hard-to-recycle collection of 2025 – presented in partnership with PPG and Pittsburgh Penguins – will take place on Saturday, November 1, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at PPG Paints Arena, 1250 Bedford Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
Participants must register in advance at PRC’s website or by calling 412-488-7490.
“PRC provides residents with numerous options to conveniently and cost-effectively dispose of a wide variety of materials not accepted in curbside pickup,” according to Joshua Schuneman, PRC Collection Events Manager. “It’s important to divert these materials from landfills since many contain toxic elements that can leach into our waterways or introduce dangerous toxic chemicals into our environment, while others contain valuable recyclable resources.”
For a $5 participant fee, individuals can drop off unlimited cell/home phones, computer towers and peripheral equipment (keyboards, laptops, mice, etc.), expanded polystyrene packaging material, microwave ovens and video game consoles/DVD players.
For an additional fee, individuals can recycle televisions and computer monitors, printers, fluorescent tubes, small Freon appliances and tires (with and without rims).
When preparing to attend this event, participants should pack all materials in their car trunks or truck beds and then stay in their vehicles while the contractor unloads the materials.
“PRC is pleased to partner with PPG and Pittsburgh Penguins for a fifth year to host a collection event in the City of Pittsburgh,” said Schuneman. “We applaud their commitment to promoting sustainable practices that protect our environment.”
