DEP Sets Nov. 10 Hearing On Renewal Of Air Quality Permit For Cleveland Cliffs Monessen Coke [Coal] Works In Westmoreland County; Wastewater Plant Permit Renewal Pending

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the October 11 PA Bulletin announcing a November 10 hearing on the renewal of a Title V Air Quality Permit for the Cleveland Cliffs Monessen Coke [Coal] Works located in the City of Monessen, Westmoreland County. (

The hearing will be held at the DEP Southwest Regional Office, 400 Waterfront Drive in Pittsburgh starting at 10:00 a.m.

To register to speak at a hearing, or to inquire if a hearing will be held, please contact Thomas Joseph, Environmental Engineering Manager, at 412-442-4336 or tjoseph@pa.gov

The last day to pre-register to speak at the hearing will be November 3, 2025. If DEP does not receive any pre-registered speakers by this date, the hearing will be canceled.
