Are you a school administrator passionate about supporting watershed education in your school? Become a Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE) Ambassador!
On August 5 the Stroud Water Research Center, Chesapeake Bay Foundation-PA, DCNR Bureau of State Parks, Penn State Extension, and Millersville University will hold an Advanced Watershed Educator Workshop for School Administrators to become certified as a Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience Ambassador.
We all rely on the services provided by our natural world to survive and thrive—and we can all play a role in supporting a healthy and vibrant ecosystem. More than 1,740,000 students live and learn in Pennsylvania, and the future well-being of our watersheds will soon rest in their hands.
Stakeholders across Pennsylvania are working to support these students to graduate with the knowledge and skills to protect and restore their local watershed through the participation in MWEEs. MWEEs are learner-centered experiences that focus on investigations into local environmental issues that lead to informed action and civic engagement.
MWEEs depend on the facilitation and support of both school and non-formal, field-based educators for the experiences to be holistic and impactful. This workshop will help prepare school administrators to support their K-12 classroom teachers in successful implementation of a MWEE!
While becoming certified as a MWEE Ambassador, you will gain a deeper understanding of the MWEE as a powerful vehicle for advancing environmental literacy and stewardship while increasing standards-based student achievement.
BONUS! This MWEE workshop will be paired with hands-on water education skill-building in watershed modeling, stormwater and agricultural best management practices, and drinking-water chemistry.
Materials/Stipends
All school districts in attendance will receive environmental education instructional materials to take back to their teachers. One school district will be selected to receive a $1,000 stipend for purchase of environmental education instructional materials. A second school district will receive a $500 stipend for purchase of environmental education instructional materials.

The Workshop will be held at the Dauphin County Agricultural & Natural Resources Center, 1451 Peters Mountain Road, Dauphin.
