POWR, Partners To Host May 28 Webinar; May 31 Public Meeting In Lewisburg On Draft PA Chesapeake Bay Watershed Implementation Plan

The PA Organization for Watersheds and Rivers is hosting a May 28 Webinar and a May 31 public meeting in Lewisburg, Union County to provide an opportunity for the public to hear an overview of the draft PA Chesapeake Bay Watershed Implementation Plan and ask questions.
May 28 Webinar
The Webinar will begin at 1:00 p.m. with staff from DEP and other partnering organizations presenting an overview of the plan and how it was developed as well as about the science and data that inform the plan and how it relates to local water quality and planning efforts.
Attendees will learn how to engage in the public comment process and how to stay involved during the county planning and implementation efforts moving forward. Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a Q&A session.
May 31 Public Meeting
POWR, along with the Conservation Union of the Merrill W. Linn Land and Waterways Conservancy will host the May 31 public meeting at the Union County Government Center, 155 N. 15th Street in Lewisburg from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m.
The agenda for the meeting will be the same as for the Webinar.

Following the meeting, which is being held in conjunction with the Conservancy's regular monthly meeting, staff from the Chesapeake Legal Alliance will be available to discuss the array of legal services they can provide to citizens, community groups, local governments, and environmental advocates working to protect the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers, streams, and communities.

Submitting Comments
Official comments on the draft Plan will not be accepted through the webinar or the public meeting, but can be submitted by June 7 using DEP's online eComment webpage or by email to: ecomment@pa.gov.  Written comments can also be mailed to the Department of Environmental Protection, Policy Office, Rachel Carson State Office Building, P.O. Box 2063, Harrisburg, PA 17105-2063.
