Citizen Science: Shippensburg Center For Land Use And Sustainability Hosts May 20 Webinar On Tracking Wildflower Climate Resilience

The
Center for Land Use and Sustainability at Shippensburg University is collaborating with scientists from the Appalachian Mountain Club to host a May 20 webinar to educate outdoor enthusiasts about how we can contribute data to AMC's spring wildflower phenology research project along the Appalachian Trail corridor.

Using the iNaturalist app, an online community science platform, you help AMC track wildflower phenology (the timing of events like leaf emergence and flowering) along the Appalachian Trail corridor.

During this webinar you will learn:

-- The wildflower species that are the focus of this project

-- How to join iNaturalist for documentation and species identification

-- How to make observations using the app

-- How your observations contribute to AMC’s research

-- How AMC researchers curate iNaturalist observations to study shifts in plant phenology
