Manada Conservancy Hosts Feb. 22 Woodland Vernal Ponds Program At Hershey Gardens Conservatory

Dauphin County-based
Manada Conservancy is hosting a February 22 Woodland Vernal Ponds Program at the
Hershey Gardens Conservatory  starting at 7:00 p.m.

Join Dickinson College Environmental Science instructor Gene Wingert for this program where he will share his expertise on vernal ponds in the forest community.

These small wetlands typically fill with water during the fall, then dry in late spring. The organisms that breed in these ponds are important to the forest ecosystem.

In this free education program, you can follow the ecology of a vernal pond through a single year and investigate the migrations and breeding behaviors of amphibians that use these special wetlands.

To register or for more information, contact the Manada Conservancy office by sending email to: or call 717-566-4122.

For more information on programs, initiatives, upcoming events and how you can get involved, visit the Manada Conservancy website.  Follow them on Facebook and TwitterClick Here to support their work.
