PASA Sustainable Agriculture Announces 2023 Pasabilities Awards Recipients

The
PASA Sustainable Agriculture Association recently honored several agriculture, community, and business leaders who serve as examples for advancing sustainable agriculture through innovation and collaboration.

The awardees included—

— Russell Redding, Secretary of Agriculture: who helped launch the PA Farm Bill, one of the largest expansions of agricultural services and programs in Pennsylvania’s history.

— Ash Richards, Philadelphia Director of Urban Agriculture: who manages the Farm Philly Program and the City’s first Urban Agriculture Plan. They identify and address challenges facing the urban agriculture community — from education to land access. Richards’ work supports the self-reliance and civic engagement of Philadelphia residents.

— Jenn & Steve Kurian, Wild for Salmon: provides a wild-caught, sustainably harvested source of protein. Jenn and Steve sell their seafood in Pennsylvania at their Bloomsburg store, local farmers’ markets, CSAs, coops, buying clubs, grocery stores, and online. The world-renowned Bristol Bay fishery, where Wild for Salmon fishes, continues to increase the annual run of sockeye salmon every year.
