PA Resources Council Holds July 20 Household Chemical Collection Event In Washington County

The PA Resources Council will hold its next Household Chemical Collection Event on July 20 in Washington County from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Wild Things Park, One Washington Federal Way in Washington.
Clean out the closets, the garage, the basement and the garden shed! Residents  now have the opportunity to safely and cost effectively dispose of common household chemicals such as cleaners, paints, stains and varnishes, batteries, motor oil and pesticides.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, an average home can easily accumulate 100 pounds of products containing potentially hazardous chemicals.
The cost to safely dispose of materials at this collection is $3/gallon (a few exceptions apply), cash only.  Once collected and processed by the certified contractor, materials will be recycled, incinerated or safely disposed in special landfills.
Since launching household chemical collections in 2003, PRC and its partners have collected and safely disposed of nearly 5 million pounds of chemicals from approximately 50,000 households in western Pennsylvania.
The 2019 household chemical collection campaign is a project of the Pennsylvania Resources Council in conjunction with Allegheny County Health Department, Allegheny County Parks Department, Beaver County Commissioners, Cambria County Solid Waste Authority, Fayette County Commissioners, Washington County Commissioners, Colcom Foundation, LANXESS, NOVA Chemicals, PA American Water, PA Department of Environmental Protection, UPMC, Concurrent Technologies Corporation, Washington Wild Things, Washington County Family Entertainment and NewsRadio 1020 KDKA.
