The Conference theme – Back to Basics – celebrates the essential elements of watershed health: soil, water, geology, ecosystems, and the people who protect them.
Whether you’re a farmer, municipal official, engineer, educator, or community volunteer, you’ll find valuable sessions tailored to your role in watershed stewardship.
The Conference will have four tracks: Back to Basics; Volunteer; Farm Conservation (New) and Technical.
The new Farm Conservation Track includes--
-- Digging into Farm Conservation – Learn how farm conservation in Pennsylvania is supported through training, funding, and partnerships that help professionals and land owners protect natural resources.
-- What are these farm plans? Do I need one? –The key components of agricultural conservation plans and how they are crucial for sustainable land management.
-- Smooth Operations: Engineering Solutions for Farms – Learn to identify agricultural resource concerns through an engineering lens and explore methods designed to mitigate issues, enhance sustainability, and improve farm efficiency.
-- Buffering the Farm – How vegetated stream and pond buffers benefit farming operations, ecosystem services, farmer and landowner benefits, and the necessity of conservation along waterways on working lands.
Penn State Extension is proud to sponsor the conference through the Center for Agricultural Conservation Assistance Training.
Other Conference organizers included Northampton County Parks & Recreation, Northampton County Conservation District and Lehigh University Dept. of Earth and Environmental Sciences.
