PA Resources Council Sets August Schedule For Traveling Glass Recycling Drop-Off Events In Western PA

On July 24, the
PA Resources Council announced the August schedule for the Traveling Glass Recycling Program events in Western Pennsylvania sponsored by Owens-Illinois, Inc. and CAP Glass.
The Traveling Glass Recycling Program serves residents living in municipalities no longer accepting glass in curbside recycling collection by providing a weeklong service, free to residents, that rotates through a variety of locations

In August, glass recycling will be available at these Allegheny County locations--

-- August 1-6: Kilbuck Township Municipal Building upper parking lot, 343 Eicher Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.  It is presented by Quaker Valley Council of Governments and sponsored by Sustainable Sewickley.

-- August 8-13: Quaker Valley High School, 625 Beaver Street, Leetsdale, PA 15056.  It is presented by Quaker Valley Council of Governments and sponsored by Sustainable Sewickley.

-- August 15-20: Mt. Lebanon Park Commissioner’s Lot, 900 Cedar Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15228.  It is presented by the Municipality of Mt. Lebanon

“This pilot program expands PRC’s current glass recycling collection opportunities by providing residents with a safe method for recycling glass while eliminating the need to interact with other individuals or touch shared surfaces,” according to PRC Environmental Program Coordinator Ashley DiGregorio.  “Self-serve glass drop off is available during daylight hours on a weekly basis from Saturday through Thursday, and bin sites are strictly monitored at all times.”

Individuals can drop off glass bottles, jars, and jugs of all colors (no color sorting required).  Containers should be empty and rinsed, with lids and labels still on.  Bags and boxes used to deliver glass must be discarded off-site.
