PA Conservation Districts Announce Student Pollinator Poster Contest Winners

On July 23, the
PA Association of Conservation Districts announced the winners of the 2020 “Where Would We BEE Without Pollinators” statewide student poster contest.
To promote the importance of pollinators, students from kindergarten through 12th grade entered posters conveying their thoughts and ideas through original artwork.

“Pollinators are essential to the health and sustainability of our food production. In recent years, there have been concerning signs of decline,” said Brenda Shambaugh, PACD Executive Director. “The posters express the many ways pollinators are essential to life and what would happen if there were no bees.”

Each state-level winner will be submitted for judging in the upcoming national competition this winter. The national contest is sponsored by the National Association of Conservation Districts.

The winners and the county conservation district that submitted the posters are:

-- Category: K & 1st Grade: Payton Joy Duncan, Greene County Conservation District;

-- Category: 2nd & 3rd Grades: Grace Petrunak, Lehigh County Conservation District

-- Category: 4th thru 6th Grades:  Andrew John Watts, Berks County Conservation District

-- Category: 7th thru 9th Grades: Sarah Hartman, Carbon Conservation District

-- Category: 10th thru 12th Grades: Natalie Brown, Clinton County Conservation District
