Dept. Of Health Reported 16 Additional Deaths Due To COVID-19; 834 New Cases

On July 29, the Department of Health reported 16 additional deaths as a result of COVID-19 bringing the total number of deaths to 7,162.
As of 12:00 a.m. July 29, there were 834 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 110,218 in all 67 counties.

There are 1,073,863 patients who have tested negative to date.  Approximately 8,110 of Pennsylvania’s total positive cases are in health care workers.

Of the patients who have tested positive to date the age breakdown is as follows:

-- 1 percent are ages 0-4;

-- 1 percent are ages 5-12;

-- 3 percent are ages 13-18;

-- 9 percent are ages 19-24;

-- 37 percent are ages 25-49;

-- 23 percent are ages 50-64; and

-- Nearly 25 percent are ages 65 or older.

Most of the patients hospitalized are aged 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older. There have been no pediatric deaths to date. More data is available here.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 19,290 resident cases of COVID-19, and  3,893 cases among employees, for a total of 23,183 at 841 distinct facilities in 61 counties.
