The Allentown Symphony Orchestra will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day with a special family concert on February 22 at Miller Symphony Hall 23, N. 6th Street in Allentown at 2:00 p.m.
The first Earth Day, on April 22, 1970, enlisted 20 million Americans and launched the modern environmental movement. It is now the planet’s largest civic movement.
Music Director Diane Wittry programmed a remarkable concert for the entire family featuring classics that celebrate nature in music including selections from Beethoven’s “Pastoral,” Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, Grand Canyon Suite by Grofé and Respighi’s The Pines of Rome.
Pre-Concert Fun!
Starting at 12:30, families are invited to a special pre-concert meet and greet with Wildlands Conservancy’s wildlife ambassadors – feathered, furry and not!
There will also be interactive climate-education activities that will explore the impact of the elements and introduce ideas to reduce your carbon footprint!
