The Department of Environmental Protection will hold a hearing on the NPDES Water Quality Permit for the Broad Mountain Wind Power Project in Nesquehoning Borough and Packer Township, Carbon County on December 4. (PA Bulletin, page 6620)
The hearing will be held at the Panther Valley High School Auditorium, 912 Coal Region Way in Lansford from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Representatives from the Department’s Waterways and Wetlands Program and Broad Mountain Power, LLC will be in attendance.
The 80-megawatt Broad Mountain Wind Project, estimated between a $145 million to $165 to develop, features 21 turbines and related transmission line access. Upon completion, the project will produce enough clean electricity to power about 25,000 homes a year.
The Department requests that individuals wishing to testify at the hearing submit a written notice of intent to Colleen Connolly, Community Relations Coordinator, by email to: coconnolly@pa.gov, or Broad Mountain Wind Project Hearing, Department of Environmental Protection, Waterways & Wetlands Program, 2 Public Square, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701-1915.
