DEP Public Meeting Dec. 12 On Keyser Deep Coal Mining Permit In Somerset County

The Department of Environmental Protection Tuesday announced it will hold an informal public conference on December 12 at the Jenner Township Municipal Building, 2058 Lincoln Highway, Boswell, Somerset County from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
DEP will accept feedback on Wilson Creek Energy, LLC’s Coal Mining Activity Permit (CMAP) and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) application for the proposed new underground mine permit for what the applicant is referring to as the Keyser Deep Mine (Permit Application No. 56131301) located in Conemaugh and Jenner Townships, Somerset County.
Representatives of DEP District Mining Operations will be available to answer general questions on the permit applications and receive both written and oral testimony regarding the application. Testimony will be placed into the public record for the application and considered in the application review process.
