Looking for information on how to properly dispose of “hard-to-recycle” items? Interested in learning how to compost in your backyard? Ready to tackle litter in your own neighborhood?
The PA Resources Council has launched a new website that addresses these topics – and a wealth of other subjects ranging from in-school education to volunteer opportunities – at an easy-to-remember URL: www.prc.org.
“Since 1939, PRC has served as a valued source of information concerning environmental issues. The format and design of our new website offers the convenience of a ‘one-stop-shop’ for going green in the new millennium,” according to PRC Executive Director Bob Jondreau. “PRC’s new interactive website provides direct access to our in-school education programs and provides residents with easy to understand content concerning education, information and action.”
Highlights of the new prc.org website include:
-- PRC Recycling Guide: Provides disposal options for common items such as paper, plastic, metal and glass as well as hard-to-recycle items such as electronics, tires and batteries. The site also explains how to safely dispose of household chemicals, paint and prescription drugs.
-- Events Calendar: Presents a schedule of upcoming workshops, events and collections. The interactive feature enables individuals to register online for classes such as backyard composting, rain barrel installation and a variety of other topics.
-- News Feeds & Environmental Updates: Educate and entertain by sharing vital information on a wide variety of topics from how to stop junk mail to how to enter the Lens on Litter photo contest.
-- Get Involved: Sections encourage individuals to take action by becoming volunteers, entering various competitions and joining the fight against litter.
“During the course of a year, PRC touches the lives of thousands of Pennsylvania residents through hands-on learning, collection events and volunteer opportunities,” said Jondreau. “The new website allows our stakeholders access to the organization’s expertise and website 24/7 for all residents living in the Commonwealth.”
