The Department of Environmental Protection has scheduled a public hearing for March 25 on the application by Waste Management of Pennsylvania Inc. to renew its solid waste permit for Tullytown Landfill in Bucks County.
The hearing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Falls Township Building, 188 Lincoln Highway, Suite 100, Fairless Hills.
“The hearing will provide an opportunity for residents to provide input about any impacts the landfill’s operation is having on nearby communities,” DEP Southeast Regional Director Cosmo Servidio said. “DEP will then consider those comments as we evaluate the renewal application.”
DEP is currently reviewing Waste Management’s application for the renewal of solid waste permit No. 101494 for Tullytown Landfill, located in the Borough of Tullytown and Falls Township.
The current permit expires on May 23, 2015, and Waste Management has filed an application to renew the solid waste permit to allow for continued waste acceptance and disposal operations for a period of time that has yet to be determined.
DEP will record verbal testimony and receive written comments at the hearing. DEP also will accept written comments as part of the hearing record from March 25 through April 10, 2015.
Comments should be sent to: Regional Solid Waste Manager, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, 2 East Main St., Norristown, PA 19401. Copies of the renewal application are available for review or copying between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at DEP’s Southeast Regional Office.
