Our Pocono Waters To Release Report On Economic Benefits Of PA's Special Protection Streams In The Poconos Aug. 16

Our Pocono Waters initiative will release a report on the economic benefits of Pennsylvania's Special Protection Streams in the Poconos on August 16 in East Stroudsburg, Monroe County.

The report-- Economic Effects of Special Protection Stream Designations in the Pocono Mountains Region-- is the first study to quantify the economic impact of the region’s Special Protection Waters.

The findings will underscore the importance of maintaining robust legal protections for these waterways.

The presence of Special Protection streams leads to:

-- Increased tourism spending

-- New outdoor recreation jobs and higher wages

-- Greater property values

-- Ecological services that translate into real economic value

Speakers are expected to include--

-- Todd Burns, Secretary, Broadhead Chapter Trout Unlimited

-- Ed Cramer, Supervisor, Stroud Township

-- Sierra Fogal, Co-Owner, Pocono Whitewater and Skirmish

-- Donna Kohut, Campaign Manager, Our Pocono Waters

The announcement will be held at the Brodhead Creek Heritage Center at the Forevergreen Nature Preserve, 1539 Cherry Lane Road, East Stroudsburg starting at 10:00 a.m.

Questions about the announcement should be directed to Ben Block by email to:  bblock@cleangrowthstrategies.com  or 443-604-8418.
