Dept. Of Health Reports 16 Additional Deaths Due To COVID-19; 813 New Cases

On August 8, the Department of Health reported 16 additional deaths as a result of COVID-19 bringing the total number of deaths to 7,313.
As of 12:00 a.m. August 8, there were 813 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 118,092 in all 67 counties.
Approximately 8,620 of Pennsylvania’s total positive cases are in health care workers.
Of the patients who have tested positive to date the age breakdown is as follows:
-- 1 percent are ages 0-4;
-- 1 percent are ages 5-12;
-- 3 percent are ages 13-18;
-- 9 percent are ages 19-24;
-- Nearly 38 percent are ages 25-49;
-- Nearly 23 percent are ages 50-64; and
-- 24 percent are ages 65 or older.
Most of the patients hospitalized are aged 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older. There have been no pediatric deaths to date. More data is available here.
In nursing and personal care homes, there are 19,944 resident cases of COVID-19, and  4,143 cases among employees, for a total of 24,087 at 876 distinct facilities in 61 counties.
