The Stroud Water Research Center and DCNR's Bureau of Forestry will host a Stream Ecology and Riparian Forest Buffer Workshop on May 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Center, 970 Spencer Road, Avondale, Chester County.
Dr. Bern Sweeney will present an introduction to the Stroud Center followed by a lecture on stream ecology and ecological services as related to forested riparian buffers.
Several other speakers will discuss Pollinators, Research on Restoration Methods and Soil Health for Stream Health.
Participants will tour the facility and will visit research projects (outside) in a meadow, reforestation meadow and a level lip spreader that are within walking distance of the Center (wear appropriate footwear).
This will be followed with a discussion of your questions and concerns at the last tour stop or convene back at the Meeting House
There is no cost to the participant for this workshop that includes lunch. We can handle up to 50 people per workshop. Participants are asked to RSVP by April 19 by contacting Richard Shockey, Ecological Services Section, DCNR Bureau of Forestry at 717-787-0263 or send email to: c-Rshockey@pa.gov.
