The permit covers the construction of a 2.18 mile long 16-inch natural gas pipeline and 0.74 mile 12-inch natural gas pipeline and a pipeline metering station in a 50 to 75 foot wide corridor to transfer natural gas from DCNR Tracts 723 and 724 to the point of sale.
The project also includes an access road and access road workspace, according to the notice.
[Note: The DEP notice added this language to the project description almost like a commercial for the project-- “thereby meeting demand and facilitating lower cost and lower pollution energy options.”]
On May 6, 2026, DEP denied the Chapter 105 for the Saluda Access Road and Staging Area Project involving a 3.9 mile permanent access road and staging area in Gamble and Cascade Townships-- because it failed to meet permitting requirements. Read more here.
DEP said the new project will impact Roaring Run (Exceptional Value Wild Trout Stream), Wallis Run (Exceptional Value Wild Trout Stream) and an Exceptional Value wetland.
The deadline for public comments is August 17-- 30 days from this notice.
No public hearing has been scheduled, but one may be requested.
Comments should be sent to the DEP Northcentral Regional Office, Eastern District Oil & Gas Management Program, 208 West Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701 or send email to: RA-EPEASTERNOGPRG@pa.gov.
