DEP Invites Comments On A Major Amendment To Chapter 105 Permit For Amazon Data Center PHL 100 Project In Salem Twp., Luzerne County

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the July 18 PA Bulletin inviting comments on a Major Amendment to the Chapter 105 Encroachment Permit for the Amazon Data Center Cumulus Boulevard Development-PHL 100 Data Center Project in Salem Township, Luzerne County. (

The permit covers these project elements--

-- An outfall of Non-Contact Cooling Water within the floodway of the Susquehanna River (WWF, MF) consisting of a 36-inch diameter PVC pipe, a 15-foot wide, 50-foot long level spreader, and 0.033 acre of grading within the floodway. 

-- An aerial utility crossing of PFO Wetlands (Other) consisting of an electric line.

-- An aerial utility crossing of PEM/PSS Wetlands (Other) consisting of an electric line. 

-- An aerial utility crossing of PEM/PSS Wetlands (Other) consisting of an electric line. 

-- An aerial utility crossing of PEM/PSS Wetlands (Other) consisting of an electric line. 

-- An aerial utility crossing of PEM/PSS Wetlands (Other) consisting of an electric line. 

-- An aerial utility crossing of PEM/PSS Wetlands (Other) consisting of an electric line. 

-- An aerial utility crossing of PEM/PSS Wetlands (Other) consisting of an electric line. 

-- An aerial utility crossing of PEM/PSS Wetlands (Other) consisting of an electric line.

-- An underground utility crossing of PEM Wetlands (Other) consisting of eight (8) 6-inch diameter duct banks conveying electrical conduits. 

-- A utility crossing of PEM Wetlands (Other) consisting of a 6-inch diameter PVC water supply pipe. 

--  A 0.11-acre impact within PEM Wetlands (Other) consisting of two (2) chain link security fences and a 10-foot wide concrete walkway.

The deadline for public comments is August 17-- 30 days from this notice.

No public hearing has been scheduled, but one may be requested.
